Tissue Paper Crosses

This craft is easy.  It's a good craft for kids that might not be too 'crafty'.

Get a piece of scrap paper and draw a big cross on it.  Then get a piece of wax paper and place it on top of the scrap paper.  Take a glue stick and glue them together in a couple of places so that they won't move apart.

Cut up some tissue paper in little squares....but not too little or it will get frustrating...and we are trying to keep it simple.  Use as many colours as you like...the more the better.

Then spread some glue with a paint brush on the wax paper...on the shape of the cross.  Stick the squares of tissue onto the glue.....make them over lap and use lots of glue.  Just do small sections at a time as the glue will dry fast.

Continue until the cross is covered.  Don't worry if you go over the edge....it will be cut out.

Let it dry.

Then cut it out and remove the scrap paper that was behind it.

I cut 1/4" strips of black construction paper to put on the edges.  I just glued them on with a glue stick.

Punch a hole in the top and tie on a ribbon.

TA DA!  Hang it in a window.  It's a simple stained glass cross.

  1. Hi Brenda,

Neat! I will definitely try this out. Lily and Rosemary will love this craft. James thinks I'm weird saving coloured tissue paper when we receive gifts.
