The Rose Cake

I pinned a rose cake a while back on Pinterest.  I just loved the look of it...but I sort of forgot about it.  Last week, I thought of it again...and I thought it would be perfect for my mother-in-law's birthday this weekend.

So, when I was icing the cake I grabbed my biggest star tip I could find and I started doing swirls.

I was quite happy with the results considering that it was my first try.  It's really easy to do.

But now that I just looked again at the one on Pinterest, I guess I forgot to put more swirls in the 'gaps'.

Oh well....no one complained about the gaps.  The cake is gone.
